Twisk is a ribbon-dome village of farms and houses, some of the houses date back from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Part of the bell-jar farms are national monuments. Amsterdam is 55km away and Alkmaar just 30km.

One of the best known farms is called the Coin Farm. This farmhouse dates from the 16th century. The name itself derives from the fact that during a restoration in 1974 a white Siegburger pot filled with Spanish dollars was found by one of the workmen. The pot and the silver ducats come from the same century as the farm.
In 1995 the farm was restored again, this time using old pictures from 1850. A few years after the restoration  the farm has become a bed and breakfast.

For those interested in life around the IJsselmeer(Zuiderzee) in earlier centuries, the open-air museum in Enkhuizen is not to be missed. Also well worth visiting is the West-Frisian 'Ommeringdijk' with many ancient harbors. We have tips on bicycle routes ready for you and we can advise you on day trips.
There are 4 swimmingpools in the neighborhood and several attractions for children, including the fairtale forest in Enkhuizen.
In Twisk you can dine at the 'Twisker Slot' and in Medemblik there are also several restaurants.

Breakfast in 'de Muntenboerderij' is very extensive with fresh juice and fruit. When the weather is good it will be served in the garden. The English-looking garden has several terraces, where you can sit and relax.

Explaining the name: "Muntenboerderij in Dutch means Coins-farm.
